LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – A 10-year-old girl has died on Delta Flight 2423 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Seattle (SEA) on Thursday December 26. The Delta Airbus A319 returned to LAX immediately, after the young passenger urgently needed medical care, according to FAA spokesman Ian Gregor. Unfortunately help came too late for the young passenger.
According to KTLA, the 10-year-old girl suffered a cardiac arrest on the aircraft, shortly after the A319 departed at 5:16 PM local time. At 6:07 PM the aircraft landed at LAX again after just 51 minutes of flight.
“LAFD paramedics responded to a medical aid for a minor female child and furiously worked to save her life. Sadly, all efforts were futile and the child was beyond medical help,” the LAFD (Los Angeles Fire Department) said in a statement.
Delta Airlines confirmed the incident and the company re-accommodated the passengers on Flight DL 2423.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office is investigating the girl’s death.
