HANOI – The Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet has finally signed a huge order for Boeing last week on February 27, 2019. The airline is purchasing an extra 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. In 2016, the company ordered the same number of aircraft.
The deal – signed in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump and his Vietnamese colleague Nguyen Phu Trong – includes 20 MAX 8s and 80 larger MAX 10s and was already announced in 2018.
With the order – according to list prices – a value of 12.7 billion dollars is involved, although aircraft manufacturers often use huge discounts for such large orders.
Boeing had already received the order, but it was still on the list under ‘unknown customer’.
