MARINE ONE TAKING PRESIDENT TRUMP TO WALTER REED NATIONAL MILITARY MEDICAL CENTER AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE

WASHINGTON D.C. – President Donald Trump was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at 6:15 PM (EST) on Friday “as a precautionary measure” following his coronavirus diagnosis, a senior administration official told NBC News. Trump was seen wearing a mask as he departed The White House, waving to the press while walking toward his helicopter, Marine One. The transfer to the military medical center comes less than a day after President Trump announced he and First lady Melania Trump tested positive for Covid-19.

President Donald Trump – toward the end of an unusually inactive day on Twitter – recorded a video message to provide an update on his condition, prior to his departure to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support,” Trump said. “I’m going to Walter Reed hospital, I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out. The first lady is doing very well. So thank you very much, I appreciate it, I will never forget it. Thank you.”

“President Trump remains in good spirts, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day,” press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement to reporters at the White House.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days. President Trump appreciates the outpouring of support for both he and the First Lady,” McEnany said.
