GUABIRUBA, BRAZIL – A Kolb Flyer aircraft crashed in a residential area of the Brazilian city of Guabiruba on Saturday. The pilot tried to make an emergency landing, but in the attempt the small aircraft hit electrical cables, which caused the aircraft to crash upside down on the street. The 2 people onboard the aircraft were taken to hospital with serious injuries, but are doing remarkably well. No people were injured on the ground. The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation. It’s likely though that the crash was caused by an engine malfunction. The Kolb Flyer is an American ultralight aircraft that was produced in kit form by Kolb Aircraft of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania -intended for amateur construction.
