AMSTERDAM SCHIPHOL, NETHERLANDS – An odd, rare and also sad sight during this corona crisis – a commercial pilot wearing a mask in the cockpit of an Air Astana Airbus A321neo, during Flight KC903 from Atyrau to Amsterdam a few weeks ago. YouTuber and flyhigh.news’ Chief Editor Jerry Taha captured this rare moment of a first officer doing his job with a mask on his face to prevent the spread of the corona virus. When we take a closer look into the cockpit, it’s clear that the captain is not wearing a mask. It’s unclear if this is an official measure, taken by the Kazakhstan airline and national carrier – Air Astana, or that the co-pilot has chosen for himself to do so. One thing is clear – it’s sad to see how the horrible COVID-19 virus is affecting the aviation world in a way we have never seen before.
