GETAFE, SPAIN – The Airbus A330 MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transport) has earned its reputation as the new generation aerial tanker of choice for military services worldwide, like the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) – receiving its first A330 MRTT last week as the successor of the RNLAF KDC-10 tanker. The new tanker aircraft can also be operated as a transport aircraft, and can also carry up to 300 military personnel. The aircraft starts as standard A330 and is subsequently extensively modified. As of March 2020, 60 A330 MRTT aircraft has been ordered by Australia (as launch customer), France, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE, UK and the NATO Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) formed by The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway, Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic. 42 aircraft are in operation today.
