The year 2020 is now already the worst year in aviation history worldwide, due to the massive impact of the coronavirus outbreak. The COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread around the world rapidly, which causes smaller airlines to go bankrupt and even the world’s largest airlines are heaving a hard time surviving. Some governments are doing their best to help their flag carriers – like KLM, Air France, Emirates, Delta and American – to survive in any way.
The aviation world is trying to survive the coronavirus – airports, borders and even countries are closed and thousands of flights are cancelled due to travel bans.
Join YouTube vlogger Sam Chui in this video as he discusses the current state of aviation with focus on airlines, airplane manufacturers and the broader travel community:
The escalation of COVID-19 could bankrupt most of the world’s airlines by the end of May – only 2 months from now, CAPA – the world’s leading resource for global aviation news, analysis and research – said. Unless the airlines get help from governments and the industry, CAPA added.
“There are probably 800 airlines – of which 200, 300 are quite large ones – and we look at coming out of this in 5 or 6 months with maybe a 10th of that,” chairman Peter Harbison of the CAPA Centre for Aviation said on the impact of the #coronavirus:
