United Express accident Presque Isle Airport

LANDING GEAR OF UNITED EXPRESS ERJ-145 BROKEN OFF AND EMBEDDED IN ENGINE AT PRESQUE ISLE AIRPORT

PRESQUE ISLE AIRPORT, MAINE – The landing gear of a United Express ERJ-145 broke off and was embedded in the engine after it skidded off the runway at Presque Isle Airport in Maine yesterday.

The accident occured when Flight UA4933 from Newark to Presque Isle landed after a 2nd attempt at 11:30 AM. After the aircraft skidded of the runway, the nosegear of the ERJ-145 broke off and was embedded in the aircrafts left engine.

Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene.
There were 28 passengers and 4 crew members on board and they were transported by bus to the terminal. At least 4 people were slightly injured.
