MACHYNLLETH, WALES – The Mach Loop (also known as the Machynlleth Loop) is one of the few places in the world if you want to experience fighter jets, helicopters or cargoplanes conducting spectacular low passes below you and all the other spectators. The Mach Loop is the European equivelant of Star Wars Canyon in California. Both are often on the bucketlist of plane spotters and YouTubers from all over the world. The Mach Loop is a series of valleys in the UK, located in west-central Wales, notable for their use as low-level training areas for fast jet and propeller-driven aircraft. The system of valleys lies 13 km (8 mi) east of Barmouth between the towns of Dolgellau to the north and Machynlleth to the south, from the latter of which its name is derived. The training area is within the Low Flying Area (LFA) LFA7, which covers most of Wales. If you’d like to experience how it is to be at the Mach Loop, watch this spectacular compilation video by Dafydd Phillips and enjoy a great variety of beautiful aircraft flying through the valleys of the Mach Loop!
