AIRBUS HAS CONFIRMED GERMAN AIR FORCE ORDER FOR 2 MILITARY A321LR AIRCRAFT

TOULOUSE, FRANCE – Airbus has confirmed in a press release that Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) has won the first A321LR order for 2 aircraft from Lufthansa Technikc – highlighting the market appeal and versatility of the A320neo Family. The military variant of the aircraft will be multi-role capable and can be equipped for various types of missions, such as troop transport, different MedEvac role setups (medical evacuation) and will be operated by the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). Lufthansa Technik has ordered a total of 5 Airbus aircraft on behalf of the German Government: 3 ACJ350-900s and 2 A321LRs.

The A321LRs are provided by Lufthansa Technik with a flexible cabin interior, making the aircraft capable of operating various missions – the aircraft will be able to fly up to 163 passengers, up to 6 intensive care patients and up to 12 medium care patients, depending on the installed configuration, with a maximum range of 4,200nm/7,800km or 9.5 flight hours.

The A321LR is a member of the successful A320neo Family with over 7,400 orders by more than 110 customers worldwide. The aircraft offers 30% fuel savings and nearly 50% reduction in noise footprint, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft. 

The A321LR has a range of up to 4,000nm (7,400km) and can carry 206 passengers. The aircraft is the unrivalled long-range route opener, featuring true transatlantic capability and premium wide-body comfort in a single-aisle aircraft cabin.

Around 200 Airbus corporate jets are in service on every continent, including Antarctica – highlighting their versatility in challenging environments.

In addition to the 2 A321LRs, the Luftwaffe previously ordered 3 VIP variants of the A350-900. The first of these will be commissioned soon and will be used as a government aircraft – intended for the transport of high-ranking officers and politicians.
