SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Last week new shocking footage has emerged showing the final moments of the Coulson Aviation C-130 Air Tanker, before it crashed in the Snowy Mountains while battling the raging bushfires in Australia last month. All 3 U.S. Firefighters on board were killed in the accident.
The crew of the firefighting aircraft – Captain Ian McBeth (44), First Officer Paul Clyde Hudson (42) and Flight Engineer Rick DeMorgan Jr. (43) – were all killed, when their C-130 Hercules Air Tanker crashed near Peak View, northeast of Cooma on January 23, 2019.
The last moments of the crash show how the aircraft dropped pink fire retardant over a bushfire burning in the area, before it disappears into a massive cloud of smoke and tragically crashes just seconds later.
In the video an explosion was heard and a large ball of flames can be seen crashing to the ground.
It’s not clear what caused the C-130 to crash. The crash is still under investigation.
The 3 firefighting heroes were honored the day after the crash with Australian flags flying at half-staff across the state of New South Wales on Friday January 24, 2019.
