DOHA – Qatar Airways’ CEO Akbar al Baker said the airline will remove its Airbus A380s from the fleet in 5 years. “We will start phasing out A380 as soon as it is 10 years old,” the CEO told reporters at the ITB travel fair in Berlin.
Qatar Airways took delivery of its first Airbus A380 in 2014. The airline has 10 A380s in its fleet.
The airline’s plans to phase out the A380 in 5 years, comes a month after Airbus confirmed the end of production of the Super Jumbo in 2021.
Emirates – the airline with the most A380s in its fleet – will fly with the world’s largest passenger aircraft for at least more than 10 years to come.
