AMSTERDAM AIRPORT SCHIPHOL, NETHERLANDS – On Monday March 22, 2021, TUI and Icelandair operated commercial flights again with the Boeing 737 MAX from and to Schiphol Airport, luchtvaartnieuws.nl reports. These were the first flights at Schiphol of the 737 MAX since its worldwide flight ban. TUI operated a charter flight to Cardiff in Wales, and Icelandair operated a regular service from Reykjavik, Iceland.

On Sunday night TUI carried the National Football Team of Mexico to Cardiff for a friendly game against Wales on Saturday March 27. The team flew to Schiphol with another airline and transferred to the TUI 737 MAX with registration PH-TFP, a spokesperson told NH Nieuws.

Icelandair deployed a 737 MAX with registration TF-ICN on Monday on the scheduled service between Keflavik Airport (50 km southwest of Reykjavik) and Schiphol Airport. The airline from Iceland usually uses a Boeing 767-300ER on this route.

The Dutch tour operator recently conducted several test flights with the 737 MAX from Schiphol. It’s not clear yet when TUI will perform holiday flights again with the aircraft type – this will depend on when the Dutch government decides whether it will be safe again for the Dutch to travel again to holiday destinations.
