MOSCOW-VNUKOVO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – February 15, 2019. A Boeing 747-400 from Rossiya collided with a B767-300 from Azur at Moscow-Vnukoko Airport.
During the pushback of the 747 the winglet of the aircraft came into contact with one of the stabilizers of the 767. Both aircraft were damaged by the collision. No injuries were reported. There were no passengers on board during the incident.
Vnukovo International Airport is located 17 miles – 28 kilometres – southwest of the centre of Moscow in Russia. It is one of the four major airports that serve Moscow, along with Moscow Domodedovo Airport, Sheremetyevo International Airport, and Zhukovsky International Airport.
This was not the only incident last week where 2 aircraft collided during pushback and taxiing at major airports in Europe. There were also incidents at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France.
